ART OF x CALM

This World Cup, whoever you’re supporting, make sure you support your mates too.

CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) is a leading UK-based suicide prevention charity. Their mission is to help people "end their misery, not their lives" by providing life-saving frontline services, practical mental health guides, and campaigns that challenge the stigma around seeking help.

Soon enough we’ll all be in the grip of something that captures the best and brightest of us all every four years. Group chats buzzing right up until kick off, plans being made and tables being booked everywhere and anywhere you can park you and your mates for 90 minutes. Memories will be made that last a lifetime, with people that you’ll share that lifetime with.

Just like the team you support, or the country that makes your heart swell with pride, it wouldn’t be for anything without the mates that sit either side of you through it all. Sticking together in the good times, and the bad. Turning up, again and again. Making some noise when things go quiet.

Behind the joy and emotion that overcomes us all in this period, the trials and tribulations we all feel may take a back seat for 90 minutes, but they’re still very real.

That’s why we’re proud to be teaming up with suicide prevention charity CALM to bring you two designs as part of their wider Support Your Mates campaign. They want you to check in with each other this tournament, and so do we. 1 in 4 of us will have suicidal thoughts at some point in our lifetime. But 4 in 4 of us can check in on our mates when things don’t seem quite right.

Showing up for a mate isn’t always easy. But you don’t have to do it alone. CALM's got loads of support to help you check in with the people you care about. They’ve also launched a Conversation Coach to help you kickstart that chat too.

Both designs are available now. For each item sold, £10 will be donated to Campaign Against Living Miserably (Charity number 1110621 in England & SC044347 in Scotland) to continue their incredible work.

If you’ve been affected by the themes in this article, you can speak to Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) in confidence.
